28th Annual Performing Arts Summer Camp

 

The University Center for the Performing Arts Summer Camp is South Florida’s original performing arts camp.

Specifically designed to develop a child’s individual talent while broadening his or her understanding and ability in all areas of the performing arts, the camp offers serious fun loving children and teens intensive daily training in an environment of high energy, fun and excitement.

Summer Camp Schedule

UCPA – 2013 SUMMER CAMP Schedule

2013 UCPA Summer Camp ages 7-16

SESSION A

June 17 to July 12

SESSION B

July 15 to August 9

  • Monday – Friday 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Early drop-off available at 8:00 a.m. no extra charge.
  • AFTER-CARE available from 4:00-5:30 p.m. after regular camp hours.
  • Children are involved in games, theater or craft activities.
  • AFTER-CARE fee is $185 per 4-week session or $12/day. (Children picked up after 4:10 p.m. will incur an additional $12 fee per occasion.)

EACH 4-WEEK SESSION INCLUDES TECHNIQUE CLASSES Campers will be divided into groups according to age and will be given instruction in all areas of the performing arts by our professional faculty of Resident Artists.

Acting:

Comedy improvisation, monologues, stage craft and technique, character development and more…

Voice:

Voice placement, breathing technique, vocal styling, ear training. Repertoire from popular Broad-way musicals.

Dance & Movement:

Broadway jazz, lyrical, hip-hop.

Specialty Classes:

Stage makeup, scene study and character analysis.

Camper Talent Show:

Children may perform their specialty in this camper directed production. This special event is for campers only, no parents or guests please. FULL SCALE MUSICAL PRODUCTIONS Each camper will be cast in one of three full scale musicals. They will spend afternoons in rehearsal for these productions where they will work with professional theater directors, musical directors and choreographers. These musicals combine the skills learned during the morning classes. Each production will be performed two times in our studio theater at the conclusion of each 4-week session. Family and friends are invited to attend the final productions. All performances take place in the evening.

  • Monday – Friday 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • AFTER-CARE available from 3:00-5:30 p.m. after regular camp hours.
  • Children are involved in games, theater or craft activi-ties. AFTER-CARE fee $12/day. (Children picked up after 3:10 p.m. will incur an additional $12 fee per occasion.) Campers will participate in various activities in the arts which will include acting, singing, movement, dance and art projects. A brief performance will be given at the end of each week for family and friends. Performances take place on Friday during the final 30 minutes of camp.

Our Performing Arts Summer Camp is specifically designed to develop each child’s talent while broadening his or her understanding and ability in all areas of the performing arts. Because we of-fer limited enrollment, each child is given individual attention by our faculty of Resident Artists. The camp offers motivated, fun loving children and teens intensive daily training in an environment of high energy, fun and excitement. Campers will also experience first hand the thrill of being in a musical theater production.
